MARSA BARTUSAK

Nobel Prize-winning physicist Kip Thorne once said that black holes seem to be more suited to science fiction and mythology than to the real world. He was not wrong. Black holes are the most bizarre objects in the universe, but certainly the most fascinating. In their neighborhood, space and time have nothing to do with what we know from Newton's peaceful celestial mechanics. Instead, they behave in a way that defies any human experience: they create a bottomless abyss from which nothing escapes - not even light. It is no wonder, then, that physicists and astronomers - led by Einstein - so stubbornly refused to accept their existence, before finally any objections were bent and black holes became an integral part of the way we see the universe today. In April 2019, the international scientific team working with the EHT telescope announced an unthinkable achievement. He had looked into the "heart" of the Messier 87 galaxy, about 50,000,000 light-years from Earth, and, using the technique of radio symbolism, recorded something unique: the "shadow" cast by a black hole on the brilliant augmentation disk that surrounds it. . The shape and brightness of this shadow once again agreed with the predictions of the General Theory of Relativity. The dark, incomprehensible, unacceptable monster out there is now practically visible! And it behaves just as outrageously as the theory predicts…
