In the mythical library of Fourfurberg, on the two hundred and sixtieth shelf of a half-dark room, behind an endless series of books that one never reads, lives Ignatius, an intellectual mouse who goes crazy eating books. For breakfast he eats dedications and subtitles, for lunch a portion of algebra and in the evening a few romantic verses. Among the books in the library is an old zoology that on the twentieth page has the drawing of a cat. Ignatius one day makes the historic decision to eat the cat's painting. His achievement, however, is causing panic in Fourfürburg. Ignatius himself, having eaten the painted cat, believes that he can eat a real cat with the same ease. The moment of truth is not long in coming
